Update After Open Meeting (Thursday 17th January 2008)

It was unfortunate that there was quite a poor turnout to the Open Meeting to move forward the discussions over how to spend the money and the setting up of a Sub Committee for this. It was decided by vote from those attending that the money should be placed with the Perth & Kinross Quality of Life Trust who will administer and manage the money for us when intrusted as necessary. A group of five were elected/volunteered to join together to form a trust agreement working with the Quality of Life Trust to ensure that the money will be put to use in an effective way. Once this agreement has been reached there will then be another meeting to decide on a further sub committee to then allow decisions to be made on how the money should be spent.

Roads & Transport

The Area Roads Engineer for Perth North has investigated the blind dip in the B953 in the section between Baledgarno (north) and the Horseshoe Café (south), about ½ mile north of the A90 at the request of the Community Council following the issue being raised by a member of the public at our September meeting.

A reply has been received from the Accident Investigation and Prevention Unit (AIP) and following a site inspection it was agreed that there is an issue of restricted visibility. Council Officers and representatives of Tayside Police (Traffic Co-ordinating Group) have agreed to "install a solid white line to prohibit overtaking on each approach to the blind summit/hidden dip between Baledgarno and the Horseshoe Cafe.  The lining will be supported by appropriate hazard warning signs."

The Community Council has also asked the AIP to investigate speeding at the 20 mph restricted sections of the roads beside the schools at Inchture and Abernyte.  It is understood that investigations and site visits are now underway at Inchture.  A series of site visits has been planned to coincide with the operational times of the part-time speed limits.  A traffic counter has been installed to establish the speed of traffic and category of vehicles using this road.  "Any appropriate measures, such as additional warning signs or a request for speed enforcement activity, will be considered."

As yet there is no information concerning similar investigations at Abernyte, but this will be followed up.
